Hello! I look forward to meeting and assisting you and your family! Here’s some information about me:
I love supporting and empowering women. I have been passionate about it since I was a child. I had my son at home during my senior year of midwifery school. It was a long, hard birth but it was well worth it! I love dancing, acting, hiking and camping. My husband is a Physician Assistant with the Coast Guard and we love working in the medical field. Although we have moved a lot because of the military, we love traveling. We hope to become medical missionaries abroad one day!
Professional:
- Certified Professional Midwife
- Certified birth doula with over 300 hours of prenatal, labor and postpartum volunteer hours
- Trained childbirth educator
- Certified in Adult and Infant First Aid, CPR, and AED
- Certified in Neonatal Resuscitation
- BS Degree in Marine and Environmental Science
I attended Birthwise Midwifery School from 2012-2015. I apprenticed with several midwives and an OB/GYN for 2.5 years. During that time I assisted over 70 births. I became a Certified Professional Midwife in November 2015.
I attended Birth Doula training at Simkin Center for Birth Allocations at Bastyr University in March 2009. Since then I have attended 12 births as a doula, ranging from home births to hospital births, natural, medicated, and water births. In October 2010 I completed a Childbirth Educator course. I have also attended breast feeding workshops and Penny Simkin’s “When Survivors Give Birth” workshop for assisting survivors of sexual assault.
I attended the US Coast Guard Academy from 2003-2007 and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Marine and Environmental Science. As an officer in the Coast Guard I was a ship driver for a 420ft ice breaker called the HEALY for two years and a port security officer for three years. I learned a lot about leadership, team work, remaining calm under pressure and the fine art of being pushed beyond your perceived limits. I attended multiple trainings in how to support survivors of sexual assault and how to support people through other critical incidents such as observing a death.
I think you’re awesome!!!
What a great bio, I’m sold!
